SRI LANKA SIGHTSEEING TOUR

TOUR DATES: 13 to 21 January 2024

Sri Lanka, this pearl shaped island nation in the Indian Ocean just South of the Indian Peninsula is one of the hottest travel destinations and lures travellers of all kinds. Sri Lanka welcomes every type of tourist with open arms. If you’re someone who love the solitude of nature, steady walks through trails or maybe you love relaxing by the sea with the sun warming your face and a cool breeze caressing your skin – whatever your liking is, Sri Lanka is the place you should be visiting.

The Italian explorer Marco Polo, who visited Sri Lanka in the 12th century, claimed Sri Lanka to be the "best island of its size in the world". We as kids have grown up listening to the stories of Epic Ramayana in which the mention of Lanka is there every now and then. Ravana dethroned Kubera, his stepbrother and god of wealth, and took possession of the beautiful island. Ravana is also credited for building a flying machine and having Wariyapola as his airport!!

Our trip starts from Bandaranaike International Airport, & from here we will drive to Anuradhapura, the capital city of North Central Province of Sri Lanka. This ancient city, now considered a World Heritage site, is sacred to the Buddhist world. The next day we will proceed to Sigiriya. Here we can explore the Lion rock fortresses as well as the ancient ruins in Polonnaruwa, the second oldest kingdom in Sri Lanka. Our next stop will be Kandy. We will visit Dambulla Cave Temple before driving down to Kandy. Kandy is the hill capital of Sri Lanka. We will visit Matale Spice Garden and the sacred temple of tooth relic. From Kandy we will take a scenic drive to the “Little England” of Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya. During this drive we will visit the famous Ashok Vatika and Hanuman Temple, which will take us back to Ramayana days! On the way we will also visit the tea gardens and tea factory, along with visit to Ramboda Waterfalls.

From Nuwara Eliya, we will drive to the world famous Yala National Park. Enroute we will visit the Ravana Waterfalls. Yala is an ideal place to spot the “big four” of Sri Lankan wildlife, the elephants, the sloth bear, the illusive leopard and the wild buffalo. From Yala we will drive to the “Dutch” beach city of Galle. We will have an evening city tour around the Dutch fort of Galle. After visiting the city centre, we will drive to the laid-back beach town of Bentota, which is very famous for its pristine beaches. Many interesting sightseeing tours are possible from here, such as the Turtle Hatchery, Boat trips on Bentota River & water sports. After Bentota, we will end our trip in the capital city of Sri Lanka, Colombo. This is a very well-planned city and will give us lots of opportunities for shopping. We will also go for a city sightseeing tour in which we will visit Vibheeshana Temple, Clock tower, The Bandaranaike Memorial, National Museum, Lotus Tower, Galle Face Green, Mount Lavinia Beach, Gangarama Temple, Old Parliament Building etc
